Quality Pot - the 61cm diameter pot is actually 190L

Nice big pot with a similar look and style to all my others. Was delivered pretty quickly too.Description states the 61cm diameter pot has a capacity of 80L but it's actually double that at 190L, which suits me as I'm going to be planting a Medana Tayberry in it, those like lots of space and will get huge if you let them. This capacity number is also molded into the plastic of the base of the pot and can be seen quite easily when flipped upside down. The rim of the pot creates a U-channel a couple inches deep when upside down that will not drain without much shaking or drilling a small hole (near the top on the inside if you want to conceal it slightly), to allow this to drain as the rim is molded to appear solid and thick but is actually hollow.Make sure you have / order enough potting compost if you're planting in this thing coz as I said, the capacity is 190L and not 80L as the description says : )

Nice, But No Drainage Holes.

These look nice and seem sturdy although not quite as large as I had imagined. The one drawback is they have no drainage holes so I'm going to have to find a way to make some. As a lone female I don't own a power drill and can't afford to buy one. This isn't something you would put indoors on a window sill and is clearly an outdoor pot, so why no drainage? Also, while standing empty in my garden they ended up with rain water in, and when I attempted to empty them out I couldn't, because there's a wide lip around the inside at the top which just trapped all the water inside even when turned completely upside down. So probably best not to leave them outside empty unless of course you want to use them as water butts. However, once I find a way to sort out drainage holes and get them potted up I think they will look very nice and do a good job. Reasonably priced too compared to some others.

Realistic Looking Plastic Barrel

I used this merge/revamp my outdoor tiny ponds. Fit for purpose. Very easy to Drill holes into it. Initially i hid my solar panel oxengenating pump air hoses (3 in all). Long story had three separate small ponds at one time with 2 fish each which I maintained through partial water changes. I put all 6 fish together in this new space and they started stressing. And lost 2 Raj and Rebel. And rushed to revamp the whole thing Raj was 4yrs and Rebel 2yrs. I miscalculated how much waste. Now I've replaced with a proper pump. You do get a white tide line as water evaporates. It is very light when delivered. It has a fold over lip at the top to give an impression of thickness. Impossible to move once filled. I did get a lot of algae growing on the inside. And had to empty any give a good scrub. Hence my new 5 in one pond pump (blagdon 5in1). Smallest I could find £89. And I had to run electric out there Master plug £23 Hope it's ok through the winter as very thin. Previous pond containers were 1 aluminium and 2 plastic. Looks really lovely and I have had it now since April 2018. The remaining fish seem happier. Will add sucker catfishy one for sides if grime developed again. Which I doubt because of pump. And Lilly has flowered on 3 occasions. I wish they had a larger square or oval. Really good value for money.

Squat format will not easily blow over with tall plants.

The dark grey (pewter) and black colour looks great and they look realistic as half barrels inspite of being plastic which will not rust or rot or shatter if they do get blown over. They are much more stable in high winds than the large, expensive, ceramic pots with curved sides and small bases which they replaced and have withstood storm Kathleen with 3 to 4ft fir trees planted in them.I really like them and the service from Amazon's supplier (old Railway Yard Nursery?) was superb. They do take a lot of compost. Even with a large root ball from a 42 to 45cm ceramic pot and bits of broken pot in the bottom, each tub still took about 65 litres of compost.

great barrel pond

This planter is perfect size for patio pond. The barrel has enough room for two little goldfishes and the rim is sturdy enough to hold up a diy bog filter / water fountain.*** update *** It’s been five months since my two goldfish started living in this simple patio pond. My biggest worry had been the freezing winter but incredibly they have survived!! So how did they managed sub zero temperatures in the UK? As the weather cooled, they remained more and more at the bottom of the pond and began sleeping more. When the surface iced over, i would dig out the ice layer and topped the water. Some days I had to do it twice. Now that the 20222 December freeze seems to be over, my goldfish are swimming about and coming back up towards the surface again. I would highly recommend this half barrel for the joy of learning to keep goldfish outside!p.s. And also learn about making a BCB ( Anoxic filtration basket ) you will save yourself time and money in the long run.

Nice looking barrel

Just what I wanted a large quality barrel. I am going to relocate soon and want to take my lilac tree that I purchased last summer with me , plus the fact I need to keep tree a certain size so this is the perfect tub for the job. Love it.
