Microwave steamer makes cooking veggies fast and easy!
This is my second microwave steamer from this company. My original one, the large size, has served me well for several years, and I love it. This item is the smaller size, which I need now for my apartment's smaller-capacity microwave oven. I'm keeping both sizes, as I'm hoping my next kitchen has a standard-size microwave. The smaller one is handy for steaming smaller portions of vegetables.Be aware that although the listing says this steamer is round, it is actually oval, like the large size. You can see this easier in the photo that shows the insert separately from the body of the steamer. Be sure to measure your microwave's interior width and compare it to the width of the steamer options. The handles are large enough that you can pick up the hot steamer easily, but that means they protrude on each side.I highly recommend this microwave steamer in whatever size works for you. Or do what I did - get one of each. I love the way they collapse for easy storage, and they're dishwasher safe silicone. I bought one for my daughter, and she loves it too.

Don’t get Burned
This steamer works great. I’d give it 5 stars but because I got burnt taking it out of the microwave it only gets 4 stars. Because it’s so pliable, the lid doesn’t fit tightly and it slipped enough to let the steam out. I’d highly recommend removing the lid before removing it from the microwave.

Good large silicone steamer
This is a nice silicone steamer I use in the microwave. Ordered the large size, and it is big, probably good for 3-4 serving of vegetables. Being used to a much smaller silicone steamers this will take a little learning curve to master. Construction is very good, and I like that it can fold down on itself to save storage space. Like others I have, it seals itself when you take it out of the microwave and keeps food hot.

Steam has no way to be released
Good price and good size for a single person. However the tight top has no hole to release the steam. Although food is almost steamed to perfection the water accumulated and falls back into the steamer from the lid. Also you will need to use an extremely low amount of of water. I think that if you use frozen vegetables you might not need any water. Otherwise despite the lid design issue I'm good with the 5 minutes to cook in the microwave.

Great kitchen tool
This tool was a great find. Cooks vegetables quickly in the microwave. Is easily washed with pretty much just a rinse under hot water. Great for asparagus, broccoli and more.

A wonderful alternative to the bags you can no longer find
I got hooked on the Ziploc Zip-n-steam bags for cooking fresh and frozen vegetables. But now they seem to have disappeared from the market, so I started looking for an alternative. All the other "steamer" bags are incredibly cheap and poor quality. Then I came across this, and - WOW. It WORKS. It's absolutely perfect for steaming fresh or frozen vegies. The small size works well for two people. I can fix enough fresh or frozen vegies for dinner in about 5-6 minutes, depending on type.I got the large size as well because I wanted an alternative to cooking up chicken for chicken salad in the crock pot (4 hours!). Just tested that today, and it seems to work fine. It took about 15 minutes to do the job, and the chicken is cooked more evenly throughout than in the crock-pot. (For large amounts I'd still use the crock-pot.) One thing on this model - it really IS too large for many microwaves. But there's a simple solution - just cut off the outermost tip of each handle. You'll still have plenty of handle left to hold the steamer, but it will no longer bump into the sides of the microwave as it rotates.Regarding cleaning, my understanding is that you CAN put this in the dishwasher, but I've just been rinsing it out with a soapy sponge - it clean up very fast and easily. As an extra plus, besides no longer having to worry what to do when my supply of steamer bags runs out, this is one more way to reduce my plastic waste and help the environment.
