The BEST of any prepackaged or fresh roast I tried in my taste test, even better than a fresh roast!
I did my own taste test, of the top five packaged decaf beans (per on-line reviews) and six varieties of decaf green beans that I roasted myself. I am amazed that a packaged decaf was better than any of my home roasted beans, what with my decades of experience at roasting. The LAVAZZA Dek decaf was the clear winner. There was no close second from the prepackaged beans, and only one fresh roast bean (but rested for a few days, as must be done) from East Africa was even close. I then thought perhaps 1/3 of the best fresh roasted mixed with 2/3 LAVAZZA might be best, but no, straight LAVAZZA was still a bit better. So I'm a happy guy! I have been super into coffee for a half century, roasting my own beans for decades, with a unique roasting procedure, and with my own special brewing method ... BUT my cardiologist did a tap dance on my head about no more caffeine. So it was time to wake up and smell the decaf. BTW, the also-rans of prepackaged are (using only one word from their title, lest this review be yanked) - blue, horse, trapper, and motion. My green beans were from my fave source, always right from the farms, and only the best of the world's offerings. So no more roasting (which is arduous but worth it, so far as regular beans) and yet I get a coffee that is worth the effort of my brewing method, which is also a little arduous - I call my invention ExpressoSanDiego, and if I had room, I'd write the procedure.

Lavazza Decaf Dark Espresso Roast...
delicious coffee, no bitterness. I couldn't drink coffee for a long time because my head hurt after, a good solution without caffeine, I enjoy it and my head doesn't hurt

Good for what it is
If you are a fan of Robusta beans you might like this. Not particularly bitter but the flavor is oddly different. No problems with the CO2 decaffination, similar to water process, clean, with no chemical taste.Nicely roasted, not burnt but visually a mix of different beans with different roast levels. Maybe they have to roast the Arabica differently than the Robusta.I'll stick with 100% Arabica beans in the future. This would work in a pinch if I couldn't get that.

I am in love!
I have tried dozens of decaf coffees over the years. I am very fussy about my coffee. This has a rich, bold flavor and if you did not know it was decaf, you would not know. I like it so much, I am weaning off of my regular coffee and only going to use this. I love the fact that it is always fresh and not acidic. I also like that the coffee beans are decaffeinated using the carbon dioxide method. This method retains the flavor better than swiss water processed. Try it, you won't be sorry!

Not for me
I was under the impression that this was a dark roast. It is not, it it a very light roast; when ground it is almost orange. The flavor of this coffee is not for me. It has a kind of nutty, almost grain like flavor that I do not enjoy. Doesn't even really taste like coffee to me.I guess I'll have to keep searching for a good, dark roast decaf...
