13 FISHING Fate Black 2 Freshwater Casting Fishing Rod

I ordered this 13 fishing rod from amazon for Christmas. I took it out fishing for the first time yesterday. I have it rigged up with a weedless hook a rubber worm and a 1/8 oz needle weight, running 5lb mono line.Literally on the 4th cast the top 16" of the rod snapped off. My brother has the exact same rod and it has been great for the last 2 seasons. I need this rod replaced. I have both pieces of the rod I can send back to the seller or amazon, I dont care where it goes. I just want what I paid for. There is no excuse for this rod to not even last a day of fishing

First off I liked the price of this rod and was comparing it to some similarly priced rods online. Decided to go with it because of the 13 fishing hype. So my first impression were, shipping was pretty bad, rod came in a flimsy oversized box with a few pieces of papers inside it holding the rod in place. The rod is light and pretty sensitive like I wanted. My only other complaint though is it feels very cheap, even compared my ugly stick GX2 which is what i’m upgrading from. It might not be, but the physical feel of the rod itself just is not for me. Still giving a 4 star though because the rod fits as many “as advertised” boxes as listed.

This is a beautiful rod! Very light and built with a higher quality blank than is usually seen at this price point. I was initially concerned when I saw they used USPS to ship the rod. They have DESTROYED five rods over the last few years. However, the rod was shipped in a very hard PVC pipe so no problem whatsoever. Great job! Great rod and good price.

This is a great rod, but whoever is shipping it has mental health problems. I just returned it for a replacement because this is an amazing deal, but the first 6'7" rod showed up in a 5' box and looked like someone broke it to fit it in the other portion wasn't even in the box!

I have owned 3 of these rods and all 3 have broke. By far the over priced and will brake like all mine have.

Pretty good rod it seems. Landed plently of fish with it. The only thing is that that the way the real seat is designed causes the reel to wobble around a lot when reeling in a fish. The reel does not contact the rod but below the reel but instead only on the ends. This causes some noticable flexing of the reel making the act of reeling in the fish a little awkward. It looks like they fixed this issue in next generation of this rod.

Really has a good spine to set the hook. The color makes it a unique rod on any dock or boat. I plan to add another bait caster and a frogging rod.

The colour looks great which is what attracted me to it. It is very light too. However, it is not sensitive at all for what I use it for. I was looking for a swimbait rod, it wasn’t a good fit. I tried shaky, underspin even crankbaits, multiple baits to see if it would excel at them, but no luck. I believe a casual angler would be happy with its performance, however, I am fishing at least days a week and this rod just doesn’t do it for me.Compared to a g Loomis e6x which you can get for another $70 (if you hit the sale right), this rod is not a good choice for the money.

I have been converting my entire fishing arsenal over to #13Fishing over the last few years and the fate black series is the perfect marriage of quality and affordability. They are light and very sensitive rod blanks. Most of my co anglers and felliw tourney anglers are taking note and switching over as well!
