Safe multivitamin option for kidney patients

Purchased for a kidney donor as they are easier on the kidneys than standard vitamins. Note - Always discuss with your nephrologist before starting anything supplement or vitamins.

These increased my GFR

I’m a 40 year old female with no known kidney disease, but my GFR has always been low for my age. It has ranged from the 70s-80s. I go through periods of time when I’ll really watch my diet and limit sodium, animal protein, etc. Other times, I’m not as careful, so my GFR fluctuates but is still always lower than it should be.I started taking these less than a year ago. I just had labs taken and my GFR increased from 81-89. I am mostly attributing that increase to this supplement because I have not been as diligent with my diet. While 89 is still not where I’d like my GFR to be, an increase is always good. I hope this review helps someone!

Glad they make these....

I recently got a diagnosis of CKD stage 2. Being the proactive / hypochondriac type, I wanted to see if anyone made a multi vitamin that was safe to use if your kidneys may be a little less than perfect. Saw these ProRenal+D Kidney Multivitamins on a bunch of forums and YouTube as to a multi made specifically for CKD. From my tons of self research these do seem to have everything you need, and not stuff you don't that may be hard on the Kidneys. These pills are TINY. Being they have so much less STUFF in them, I think the price is a bit steep, but not a whole lot of other choices out there. I don't really FEEL any different since taking these, but my..,shall we say letter P.., is way less crazy yellow now than when I used to use Life Extension two a day, or Now's Adam 2 a day, or even Alive whatever it was called vitamins. It seems to me those "regular multivitamins" may make the kidneys work too hard getting rid of too much way way over % of certain vitamins, so hoping THESE are just what is needed,..no unnecessary stuff in these. Hoping they actually have what's on the label in them. With virtually no competition, I'd buy these again. I have yet to see or need a renal dietician, but these seem rather safe and hopefully helpful from everything I've read... Just lower the price please!

Works!

My eGFR went from 57 (Stage 3) to 72 (>=60 ml) in 6 months. My values were trending down 64, 57... I took a ProRenal+D and a Blueberry capsule every day for 6 months until my next labs. I'm a nurse and did a lot of research on supplemental renal vitamins. This is proof that these work. Don't be swayed by their tiny size. They pack a big punch.

CKD 3 & Renal supplements.

What can I say? I just put down rating stars but I don't really know how to rate this. I don't WANT to taste them, they're easy enough to swallow and I haven't a clue about the value for the money. I am almost 73yrs old. but was diagnosed with Stage III CKD at 64 yrs old. Working outside in the heat and getting dehydrated for several years is what caused it. I have worked very hard keeping it from getting worse. (so far; so good). It's not curable but you CAN slow down the progress.I initially thought I could reduce my vitamin pill intake by taking one Renal vitamin a day. Not so.. There is so much confusion about what supplements to take for kidney disease. Something that isn't too high in one nutrient or too low in another. Some supplements have creatinine in them. I tend to be anemic. (I can tell when I tire easily and crave chewing ice) so I still need to take iron pills. I'm very active so I take a B complex. (Active women tend to burn up the B's before they can restore them, AND it's even worse if they're a vegetarian). I still need a baby aspirin to prevent blood clots, Loratadine for allergies, and magnesium to prevent foot cramps after Pickle-ball or bowling workouts. The calcium is right but I've had to eliminate carbonated drinks because the carbonation sucks the calcium out of bones; (more cramps).I also have trouble keeping potassium levels down and since potassium raises creatinine levels, I'm very careful about the amounts of all those veggies I used to eat.The bottom line seems to be in eating kidney friendly foods which means back to white bread and rice, cutting way back on dairy (which raises phosphorous levels and needs to be balanced with potassium). We need more fiber and less protein. Protein is over rated, anyway. It should make up only 20% of your daily calories, so dump the protein shakes. Processed foods and meats are very hard for kidneys to filter. Watch and limit sugars & salt. Salt won't raise your BP but it can retain fluids which can put a strain on the heart if you already have issues there. (Personally I think we should ditch the sea salt fad. Salt is salt is salt. Some has some extra minerals but iodized salt has about completely stopped goiter issues around the world. It's coming back tho. Salt is about the only way we get enough iodine.Watch your cholesterol. Aside from what your body already creates on its own, the only other way to get cholesterol is by eating animal products. It's not so much the amount of far as the type of fat, (non animal fat), but no more avacados which are very high in potassium.. (Awwww. Darn! I love avocado). Keep hydrated for the GFR to stay up, and monitor blood pressure. For every ten pounds overweight one is; the heart has to pump an amazing extra 3,000 miles of blood thru all those extra capillaries in body fat. Imagine being 20, 30, or MORE pounds over weight! Imagine the strain on the heart. Add kidney disease and well, let's face it; you never see fat old people. It is the rule and there are no exceptions to it. You only inherit 20% of disease tendencies. The rest is up to you.Heart Disease is a major cause of kidney failure; so is Diabetes. Conversely, Kidney disease is a major cause of diabetes. COPD can lead to cardio vascular complications and heart failure. They're all connected. Those days of eating whatever we want are over! If you want to stay alive and stay healthy in spite of the kidney disease you have to research, study, and work hard at it. I think it's more about THAT than just taking a renal supplement.

.Great Customer Support

When I contacted the manufacturer about a broken outer seal, I had not requested a replacement because the bottle seal had not been damaged, I decided the contents had not been tampered with, but was a shipping damage. They asked if I wanted a replacement. I said “No” because the product had not been tamper with. Then sent a 2nd bottle without charge. Without asking a 2nd bottle. To my surprise they shipped another bottle without charge. I will purchase from this supplier again.. Excellent Customer support
