How Art Can Make You Happy: (Art Therapy Books, Art Books, Books About Happiness) (The HOW Series)

I very much enjoyed Ms. Payne's perspective on the accessibility of Art....art with a small a....and how to pursue the notion that art can make you happy. Her message was not that all art is happy or that it shares a happy message....I'll stop my comment there so that a curious reader may pick up the book and read it. I did!!The thing about the book I liked the least about the book was the colored paper and print. Some pages were very difficult to read. While I respect the possibility, that being a challenge to see, may be part of the intended message, I did not enjoy reading on the colored paper.I like to carry a real book with me as I navigate through my day. When I have a free moment, and I am not drawing, I can read a page or two. The reading conditions are often less than ideal....hence my issue with the colored paper and print color and size.

Wonderful. Short and sweet but definitely a way to start any interests in art. I've read it twice and have owned it for almost a year now.

A nice, simple book. Exceeded my expectations and pumped my courage to go my local art museum.

I love the concept and found the graphic design lovely, until I sat down to actually read the book. The content is obscured due to the color choices on so many pages that are gorgeous but make reading a chore. Bronze, silver and yellow do not work well with a small font, period. If the designer's choices thwart the writer's ability to deliver a clear message, the writer should weigh in to insist on better readability. Form follows function, OK????? Perhaps I'm the only one who found reading this otherwise lovely book a chore for my tired eyes after a long day at work, and if so, I'm sure others will chime in.

My daughter asked for this book for Christmas. She now says the book is just what she hoped it would be.

Loved the message of this book and Bridget's voice and easy reading style. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I had a lot of trouble reading certain pages. While I found the book visually appealing, the combination of paper and color of print was distracting and at times hard for me to read.
