KOM Cycling Universal Phone Adapter Attach Your Smartphone to Any Garmin Bike Mount - for use with Garmin Phone Mount Adhesive Adapter

This is a good concept but fails to live up to potential. The sticky tape works great holding the adapter directly to the phone except where you really need it to hold. When you pull straight up on the phone mounted in the quarter turn mount its nice and tight no doubt it strong enough to prevent the phone from separating from the adapter and mount. Now where it fails miserably is when twisting the phone to take it off the mount. The 2-sided sticky tape can't handle the twisting force. The phone will separate cleanly from the adapter leaving the adapter snuggly in the quarter turn mount. All isn't lost though. I have removed the sticky tape from the adapter and used epoxy to adhere the adapter to my phone case.

Works well. Just be careful when you first stick the 3M tape to make sure that it is in the position. I positioned and measured many times before installing the 3M tape permanently. Make sure that when you try the position, please the phone both in the proper position and also 90°, because you have to turn the phone 90° in order to lock. Make sure that you do this before fixing the 3M tape permanently, otherwise you may find that you cannot turn the phone phone once installed. I would assume that if you have to peel the tape off, it is not as secure as before. I have used it for approximately two months in both Road and mountain bike conditions, even with rocky terrain, the phone is 100% secure.

It works extremely well and is very secure, but there are several steps one must take to make sure one has a happy experience with this product. First of all I bought a TORRAS Slim Fit Hard Plastic Phone Cover Case. It provides a smooth and sturdy surface to which attach the adapter. Second I had to make sure that my phone clears the handlebar when it is turned to release. I also wanted to make sure that my phone is pointing straight when it is locked into position. Since you only have one chance to attach the adapter to phone case, little preparation helps. I made a template out of cardboard that has the same width as my phone case. The template a hole in a middle for attaching the adapter. The template can be attached to the phone case with a couple of rubber bands or zip ties. The critical point is that the template protrude from the bottom of phone case by a distance equal to a distance from the axis of rotation to the lower corner of the case minus the distance from the axis of rotation to the lower edge of the case, plus few millimeters (1/4 inch) for extra clearance. Once the template is attached to the phone case, lock adapter into Garmin bracket and remove adhesive cover. Attach phone case to the adhesive tape making sure that the bottom of template is flush with handlebar. I then tightened a c-clamp making sure it is centered on Garmin bracket and left it overnight. It works like a charm now.

Love the Kom bike mount for my Garmin Edge Explore, but the adhesive stick-on Universal Phone Adapter doesn’t stick. I have gone through three in two months, all using different “flat” back cases for my iPhone X. Today, my phone fell off the sticky back while I rode across a wooden bridge on a rail trail. The vibration was too much, my iPhone fell to the ground at 20mph. If not for my LifeProof case my phone would be wrecked. The LifeProof case is a little mangled. I blame this mount. The other two Kom adhesive mounts I used fell off while I was not riding, just weak. The plate itself is great. I’d recommend ditching the adhesive and adding a silicone rubber band to this Kom plate. Also, this mount negates wireless charging, hence why my recommendation that a silicone rubber band added to this mount would be better. I’d be happy to test that if created.

Fitment into a Barfly 4 mount is good, engagement and hold feel spot-on. However, I failed to get the adhesive backing to stick to my phone case (iPhone 7 with an Apple Battery Case). Doesn't seem like the 3M VHB works well with the soft-touch plastic of the case.Adhesives are weakest in resisting shear forces, which means the twisting action of the Garmin mount plays exactly to the weakness of this adhesive adapter. Should work great on most surfaces, just not mine!

EDIT: Almost a year now and ordering a new one for the new phone case. It held up amazingly well and is still holding strong with no sign of failure. Don't try to stick the tape to a rubberized finish or silicone and you'll be goodThe case I ordered had a kind of rubberized coating, made sure that was sanded down and clean then attached the KOM adapter. Works perfectly, strong adhesive isn't going anywhere, firm fit in the Garmin Out front mount. Been out for a few rides (road only so far) and it holds. Paired my phone with a Wahoo speed and Cadence sensor, out front mount with phone up top and Garmin Virb under. Perfect setup for me. A well made phone case and a little common sense when using this adapter and you'll be good. Keep in mind it's a strong adhesive but not many adhesives like rubberized coating or silicone.

Even better than expected - light, secure, and easy to install. I got one to mount my iPhone Xs to my stem (in landscape mode) to use for Zwift. It could easily support even an iPad mini (while stationary). It’s comfortable while in-hand and easily fits into your pocket without snags.I think most of the negative reviews on here are due to their own negligence. I mounted mine to a cheap iPhone case, so I can easily swap them on and off for workouts.First, you HAVE to be practical about the material and finish of the case you wish to stick it to - I chose a cheap matte plastic one. Just like with tape, it just won’t stick to some materials. Second, you MUST properly prepare the case before installing. Ensure that it is clean and free from dust, oil, etc., and thoroughly wipe down the area you wish to stick it to with an alcohol swab. Last, evenly apply sufficient pressure to fully adhere.My only gripes are that it should be cheaper, and it could be made even more low profile.All-in, about $18. This will be my go-to in the future.

Me ha gustado la idea. Cuesta un poco meterlo, pero con paciencia acaba entrando, y sacarlo cuesta un poco más, hay que contar con que no es una pieza original de Garmin. Mis recomendaciones son que en función de la carcasa de móvil que tengas pegara mejor o peor, en las de silicona que es mi caso ya que no quería usar la original que uso habitualmente, en la de silicona baila un poco más. A a la hora sacarlo ten cuidado si no te quieres quedar sin invento, sujetalo bien y con cuidado. Antes de despegar el papel de la pegatina hice una marca con un boli en la funda y sobre la pieza para una mejor colocación posible. Dudo de la eficiencia de la pegatina sobre la carcasa y su agarre, hice pruebas, y al final vi que no pegaba muy allá sobre la carcasa, pero repito, mi funda era de silicona y tal vez no habia quimica positiva entre el pegamento de la pieza con la funda de silicona, y el resultado final, puse SuperGlue sobre la zona de la pegatina y sobre la zona de la funda para que pegara mejor. Recomiendo poner un cristal templado para el móvil por si se cae. Toda precaución es poca. Dudo si volvería a comprarlo. No me quiero ni imaginar, en movimiento, caída del móvil y con lo ello conlleva, hasta un accidente. Tal vez en otras carcasas pegue mejor. Tengo que probarlo pero reconozco que ire con un poco de miedo.

Per quanto riguarda i tempi di consegna tutto Ok, quello che ho trovato anomalo è l'adesivo nel senso che nonostante abbia pulito come da indicazioni tra l'altro su un supporto nuovissimo, dopo alcuni sobbalzi della bicicletta l'adesivo si è staccato!!! ho dovuto rimediare fissandolo con piccole vite ma è stato un lavoraccio!!!

Encaja correctamente pero se suelta muy fácilmente. No me fio de llevar el móvil enganchado con este adaptador.

Accesorio bueno para pegarlo en una carcasa y poder poner el teléfono como uso de gps en bici
