Ito great provided you understand it limits. Generally I find orienting myself to the terrain fairly easy, but this provides and excellent backup in case my GPS and main compass fail. Also it's quite good for getting a quick approximate bearing on the go.

Replace the velcro strap, perhaps with one from an old G1098 watch & this is perfect.Easy to use, clear as a bell, luminous by night, what's not to like?I've added a little whiting to the aiming point on the bezel, just to make things easier in low-light.This is handy on the wrist or would be easy to attach to a bergen shoulder strap for quick reference too.All in all, I give this 10 out 10... just as we should expect from Suunto

Simple but effective backup compass.light; strong case, very useful for taking a reference bearing on the go. However, not accurate enough for use on complicated ground in fog.

I have the M9 N/h wrist compass. It is really useful when you want to free up your hands. It has enough functions to be useful; moving bezel, sighting system and glow in the dark dial. If you need anything else, then a wrist compass is probably not what you need.

Brilliant piece of kit use it for work within the military!

Well, it does do the job but it's a lot smaller than I was expecting (it's only 37mm diamater across the bezel) so it lost a point for that because this smallness seemed needless. It could still have looked perfectly ok and not to chunky but then be easier to read and look better if it was more like a modern large watch (nearer 45mm).I knocked off another star because the velcro strap feels terribly cheap, thin, and nasty. They could have provided a better quality bit of velcro.So 2 starts knocked off but it does of course still do it's fundamental job well. It rotates freely but only when totally flat, as you'd expect.

Can fit over a thick jacket sleeve, or a bike's handlebar. Great for cycling around a city.
