Silverline Heavy Duty Magnetic Pick-Up Tool 3.6kg (8lb) (151211)

I bought this tool having thought for a while that I ought to have one for retrieving the many bits and pieces I would invariably drop down into the engine bay of my car whilst working on it. With a coolant sensor replacement job coming up, I bit the bullet and exchanged 129 of my hard earned new pence for this magnetic pickup tool (the 'deluxe' 3.6kg version no less!)Rather ironically as it happens, it would have been no use for retrieving the aforementioned coolant sensor (had I dropped it into the engine bay of course...) as the sensor turned out to be made of brass and was therefore non-magnetic!Nevertheless, the magnetic pickup tool provided hours (okay....minutes) of fun trying it out round the house, testing the magnetic properties of the radiators, the drawer handles, the cat etc... and I look forward to using it in the manner intended when my sausage fingers next let me down.

A good item great value, quite well made the telescoping handle is a little light if picking up a heavy item I'd advise "pulling" it towards you so the weight is along the length rather than bending the extended handle. A good strong magnet first class for the price would rescue things dropped where you can't reach, etc.

Not a particular fan of Silverline and a small group of other brands with whom they directly compete as past experiences had been mostly negative due to very early failures, there are occasions when exceptions can and will be made which include 'convenience tools' where the quality of the metal used need not be the highest; this "Silverline 151211 Heavy Duty Magnetic Telescopic Pick-Up Tool, 3.6 kg" is one such situation.Silverline tools typically utilise low-grade Chinese steel which, in something like a screwdriver or pliers, is known to fail after very few uses as the metal will bend and distort where it never should. For a tool such as this where it will be used to retrieve needles, pins, screws and other smaller steel objects from where they fell which may be on the floor, or somewhere less than ideal such as under a cabinet, the quality of the metal is less important.It could be a solution for those with dexterity or muscle control issues which could be RSI or something more serious and long-term. Otherwise the elderly and others less able to reach down to or under something may be less now than it was once may also find it useful. It should be long enough to reach under most domestic and office furniture.The metal used is probably of equal strength to that of other Silverline products and should therefore not be subjected to excessive stress from bending or flexing, lifting too great a weight etc. If carefully used, it could provide long service. It is also sufficiently inexpensive to be replaced if ever required without much concern as there are a great many that are similar in nature and price.

Not my first such tool, but the best to date. A must for any DIY-er or professional

Handy size easy to use good strength

I got one of these to pick up my darts when and if they bounce out of the board during a game (spinal Problems) it works great, though I think I shall look for a longer one. very good product and picks up much heavier items no problem. Der Magnetstab macht einen soliden Eindruck. Ich habe diesen Stab gekauft um Boule-Kugeln aus Metall (720 g) vom Boden aufzuheben ohne mich Bücken zu müssen. Dies funktioniert gut. Bin mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden.

Efficacement opérationnel, et ça fera plaisir aux personnes qui souffrent du dos. Léger et peu encombrant, il rend énormément de services. N'hésitez pas.

Ho una moto, spesso mi capita di smontarla e devo dire che alcune volte le viti cadono, questo aggeggio serve moto a recuperare quelle viti cadute nei buchi neri!
