I owned a stoneware set for almost 25 years, and finally replaced it with these after losing too many pieces. And yet I've already chipped one of my new plates after only one month. The bowls have sides almost perpendicular to level, which makes them extra challenging to hold onto when washing by hand. The finish is also rather slippery, and it was from dropping one of these while washing that I chipped the plate. You would think when they were designing the stoneware shapes originally thar they would consider some of these issues.In the microwave, the bowls get really, really hot, which tells me there is a lot of water embedded inside; use a plate as a coaster or you'll risk burning your hand if you heat up soup.

REALLY good dinnerware!
Very durable, smooth, heavy dinnerware. Doesn’t chip easily, or get silverware marks. We bought the gray set for 8, and we love it. Really pretty darker soft gray. The soup cereal bowls are small, so you may want to purchase a few larger bowls to compliment your set. Really nice quality though, and we would buy this again!
