Orei 4K HDMI Matrix Switch 4 X 2 by Switcher 18G UltraHD with Arc Supports upto 4K @ 60Hz & 1080P IR Remote Control - Full Matrix Selection (UHD-402)

I recently purchased a new projector that accepts 4k HDR and 3D input sources. However, my older 7.1 AV receiver does not pass the 4k and/or 3D content via HDMI. I needed a way to connect a Roku Ultra and a 3D Blu ray player to the projector but yet also send the surround sound audio to the receiver. This switch with audio extractor does the job. It does have limitations in that it will only send 5.1 audio through the optical Toslink connector (limitation of the optical connection, not the switch itself). I connected the HDMI out port to the projector and the Roku and blu ray player to HDMI inputs 1 and 2. Then connected the Toslink to my receiver, set the input source on switch to Auto and the audio setting to 5.1 and it is working as it is supposed to. I had tried a switch from a different brand that was very finnicky when making changes. This switch has worked perfectly. The only negatives I have is the way they market it as working with 7.1 audio sources. You have to read the fine print to realize that 7.1 is being passed through the HDMI output. I haven't tried setting the Audio setting to 7.1 to see if I still get my 5.1 audio through the Toslink.Also the switch comes with an IR extender that has to be used to use the remote. This is handy if switch is installed out of sight. However, I have not needed to use the remote because the Auto switching works so well with my two devices.

Having had a previous 4x2 splitter i was after one that would allow Virgin uHD to work on both outputs. This does it for all inputs to all outputsvery happy

It is easy to install and setup. However, some glitch when using it with Apple TV. Not sure why. I have plugin Xiaomi Box (similar to Amazon Fire), Apple TV and Nintendo Switch. Whenever I put the selection to Apple TV, when I either switch to other input on TV and back, or simply turn off the TV and turn it on back, the Apple TV signal becomes running up and down. I have to cycle through the HDMI selector and back to Apple TV one, then it appears correctly. The weird part it doesn't happen with the Xiaomi Box.

I needed to switch my 4K HDMI cameras and split them and this works well for that. Having the switch and splitter in the same unit is more liable and has much less wire mess. I personally prefer the plastic HDMI switchers and splitters because they don't scratch things. I do wish it has RS-232. I don't like how channel 1 is on the front, I wish it was channel 4.Orei is an American company, so that alone is a good reason to chose them.
