It's very similar to the gerber. Other than the blade release it appears to be all metal. I like the blade release better than the gerber. On the gerber you need to remove a screw to replace the blade. On these you just lift the release. The release is flush with the holder and for me where my thumb rests so I don't think it will be released accidentally. And, they are half the price of the gerber and come in black for a more discrete look

I recently lost my Gerber folding razor knife. When I went to order a replacement, these knives came up as another option. I figured that the orange color would make them harder to lose than the stainless finish of my old Gerber. The low price was also attractive, since at $5 each they are less than 1/2 the cost of a new Gerber.These knives are a little bulkier than the Gerber, and the painted finish gives me the impression that it may not last too long - but time will tell. The utility knife blade is a little loose, which bothers me a bit. My Gerber held the blade tightly, which I liked very much. Replacing the blade in these new knives requires no tools, which is definitely an advantage over the Gerber, which required a small screwdriver.At the end of the day, these knives are cheap enough that if I lose one it isn't a tragedy and the easy blade replacement may make them a good alternative to my old Gerber.

Perfect compact razer knife

I was a previous user of the Gerber version of this knife for years and got tired of the high prices when I would loose them so I tried these for a fraction of the price and I couldn't be happier. The quick change on the blade is a nice feature vs keeping track of that little screw on gerber. I use it daiily as a farmer and mechanic

Knife is compact and seems to hold up well. My only major dislike is that the blade doesnt lock in tight. It wiggles around when “locked in.” And to lock out in the open position you really have to pry it open for it to click into place.

Good knives

I had one of these unbranded types of box cutter blade holder knives for a long time. I loved it - portable, sharp, inexpensive. I change the blade every couple of weeks. The knife fell out of my pocket and is now somewhere in my lawn so I bought new ones - these and a much more expense Gerber version. These ones look really nice. The blade is a little loose but functional. It was when I changed the blade that I found out that the mechanism securing the blade sucks!The blade that comes with it is somewhat loose, but secure. When I put in one of my replacement blades (I have a 50 pack) it fits, but falls out. The blades are a standard size and worked fine in my lost one. But they are just a tiny (I mean not measurebale) bit smaller. So I tried the blade from my Gerber. It is just a tiny bit thicker, and won't even fit. But the blade that came with these works fine in the Gerber, and so do my blades from the 50 pack, and the marginally thicker Gerber blade! Since I have 5 of these, I tried another one... same problem.So, unless you have a source for real precison blades that perfectly match these holders (and I have no idea how you would know that) stick with a blade holder that uses a screw to secure the blade, not a clip.

It's small and that's what I wanted. I removed the clip, and it fits in my jeans coin pocket easily for a light unnoticeable EDC. I wish it had more coverage over the blade or better gripping. Nice for small jobs but I would not trust it for construction use.
