Great Learning Series for Ages 2 and Under!

I intially bought three of the Preschool Prep Company dvd's for my oldest daughter. She was five at the time and the videos bored her (although she did learn some new words from the dvd's). My other daughter was three at the time. She liked the videos but eventually started loosing interest in most of them after she turned four (she still likes "Meet the Colors", but I borrowed it from the library). Unfortunately, I didn't play the videos frequently enough to know how effective they were on her. Now, I have a two-year-old son (my youngest of the three). He began watching the "Meet the Letters" and "Meet the Numbers" dvd's at age 1. Not only did he REALLY enjoy the videos at the time, but he was able to identify ALL of his alphabets (upper- and lower-case) and numbers, and count objects just from watching the dvd's. I know he didn't learn these things at a daycare, because he was home with me each day. My son couldn't even talk yet, maybe with the exception of saying, "Da-da," and, "No," yet he would see words on someone's shirt or on a poster, and would point out and name each letter he saw. I was surprised--I simply had no idea an 18-month-old could learn their abc's and numbers. He's now two and has just started watching "Meet the Sight Words". He has the same enthusiasm for the video series as he did when he was one, and is now repeating words as he sees and hears them on the video. He actually picks out the Preschool Prep Company DVD's to watch. I'm on the lookout now to see if he starts recognizing the video-featured words in books. It wasn't until my son started watching the dvd's that I finally understood--the video series are designed for an age group of children who probably don't yet talk or are just learning to talk--I would say ages 2 and under. Now that I mention it, I think Preschool Prep Company explains that at the beginning of some of its videos. The message just didn't sink in for me until child number 3.

Making Learning by Repetition Fun

When my son was about 17 months old, he started to show interest in numbers and letters. He has always has letter and number magnets on the fridge, but I decided to try this dvd as well as the "Meet the Letters" dvd to see if it would help him learn in more of a fun way. This dvd is a lot of repetition with saying the names of the numbers over and over and over, but my son just loved it and learned numbers 1-10 after only watching it a couple times. My son is now 2 years old and I still put in this dvd every once and awhile and he gets so excited and proud that he can say the number on the screen before they do. Since this "Meet the Numbes" dvd was such a success, I now have the entire series with the numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and sight words, and my son has mastered all of them. The only con about this video would be that it only goes up to 10. It would be nice if the video went up to twenty, but it is still great for starting out. I really reccommend this series, but just be prepared to hear the numbers over and over in a lot of different voices!

Learning Numbers as Easy as 1, 2, 3!

Meet the Numbers My youngest son has special needs & mainly uses sign language as a form of communication. My son can learn all sorts of things from these videos that he was unable to learn in preshcool. With just days of "Meet the Numbers" he knew several numbers and with 2 weeks of "Meet the Letters" he was able to name many letters on the cover of Meet the Numbers. This is a big deal because just saying words clear enough for us to understand is hard yet he was able to say these things. I even consider somewhat of a speech therapy while he does the video because he talks along with them. With the simple & repetitive style it is very easy to pick up and they associate the characters with what they are leraning and are able to generatlize it into every day activities. I HIGHLY recomend this item not only for normal children but for those with special needs. We use our's in the car on the way to school. Better then just sitting there!

Exceptional Video for Children

We bought this, and a few other Preschool Prep videos for our Grandson, just before he turned two. He spends about three days a week with us, which is true joy! He was just learning a few words and wanted to try out some educational dvds to see if we could enhance his early education.Turns out, this and the other Preschool Prep DVDs quickly became his favorites. He asks for them by name, "Numbers" or "Colors" or "Shapes."The week he turned two (2), we were at a store, walking down an isle, and out of the blue, he started touching boxes going down the isle and said "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine!" We were so proud of him and it gave us some bragging rights. I'm sure other Grandparents know how special those are!We were so impressed with these, we bought another set for him to take to his house, so he could watch them at home as well. These are great DVDs for early childhood development.

A great learning tool!

We did Meet The Letters with my son from about a year old. It was very successful, and since he now knows all his letters and says them all and is trying to write them, we moved on to Meet The Numbers. We use this video only in the car driving the older kids to and from school. In one weeks' time, my 22 month old has learned all the numbers on the DVD (zero through ten), and he can count to six on his own. He will count almost anything, and he does it correctly. This is in only one week, for two 20 minutes rides a day. He also finds some of this to be pretty funny, which is an added bonus. If I write numbers and then the zero, he states it as zero. If I am writing letters, he still says "O". I am impressed at how much he has learned and not only the numbers but the concept of "how many"!

Great learning tool.

My toddler loves it and it's a great learning resource. I like that it is not too long as well. A good Dvd to put in before breakfast if my son gets up too early.
