Toasts and four pieces at a time!
Toasts and four pieces at a time! The toaster performs as advertised. I love that it toasts four pieces of toast or some long rectangular breads. Very easy to clean. The dials and digitals are easy to read. The toast does pop up and you don’t burn your fingers pulling the toast out of the toaster. However it takes a little bit of getting used to I burnt the first several batches of toast. The toast gets dark and Will burn if you don’t watch it. I ended up adjusting my knobs until I found the darkness that I wanted. What I did learn is that the cut side of the bagel should face the inside of the toaster. Evidently the inner sides of the toaster is designed to cook bagels on the cut side of the bagel. I find this is a great value for the price. An oddity about this toaster is the electrical cord is at the end of the toaster with the dials are located. Weird but usable.

Do you want perfect toast? The toast out of this thing is sublime.
Perfect toast. I've only had the unit for less than a day but OMG, its amazeballs! For a long time now, I have been toasting my bread in a Breville toaster oven, the toast comes out "ok", takes a very very long time, but its inconsistent and I've never had perfect toast out of it. I finally gave up and started searching for a standalone toaster. I wanted a 4 slice, but also one that had long slots for sourdough bread, this one fit the bill, and had good reviews so I bit the bullet and ordered it. I'm so happy that I did! I'm amazed at the speed with which it toasts. I can get perfect toast on a setting of 3.5 in around 2 minutes, this used to take around 7 minutes in my toaster oven!. Turn it up to 5 and the toast comes out slightly burnt which is exactly how I like it! My toaster oven, on the highest setting couldn't come close to burning toast! Proud to say I'm a convert - I will never use my toaster oven for making toast again. The oven has other uses that it is well suited for, toast? not so much.

Moody toaster
The toaster is a nice design, seems like it will be easy to clean, and I didn’t have the weird smell some people have complained about. This toaster just seems to be moody. I’m having a heck of a time getting my toast just right. When I first tried it, anything over level one resulted in complete incineration of my toast. I finally got it dialed in at somewhere between level one and two and then yesterday, using that same setting, my toast was barely even lightly toasted. I had to go up to level 3 for my preferred toasting. I think this toaster really does need time to settle in before it begins toasting in a dependable manner. I’ve started calling this toaster by the name of a particularly moody acquaintance I have just for the entertainment value.

Finally, a toaster that performs well!
I have been looking for a toaster that’s works as well as my old “perfect” one. I’ve been through a couple recently that were pretty disappointing, but this one, has performed quite well, this past 7 days.PROS:Toasts evenly...check!Will toast 4 square sandwich slices at once...check!Has two long slots, instead of 4 short slots, in case I want to toast longer slices of bread...check!Has slots wide enough for thick bread or bagels...check!Has a bagel function, so it only toasts one side of the bagels...check!Has a defrost function...check!Has a cancel function...check!Has an easy pull-out breadcrumb tray...check!Has a timer dial that counts down how much time is left before your toast pops up...check!When the toast is done, it pops up and sits high enough to prevent finger burns...check!CONS:This is just a personal preference, but because I prefer two long slots instead of four short slots, the toaster is more LONG than it is SQUARE. I like to place my toaster length-wise against the back wall, so it is tucked under my counter when not in use, but I can’t see the timer dial or function buttons that way, without pulling it out to view them when I want to toast something. Not a deal-breaker for me.

Quality toaster great for bagels!
Bought this toaster 3 months ago to replace our 20 year old Villaware Uno which is built like a tank and still works great. We wanted a long slot toaster for artisan bread that had a bagel setting, which the Villaware did not have. After reading hundreds of reviews wedecided on the LOFTer Long Slot. We have used it every day for the past 3 months and we are very happy! It toasts fairly evenly and the bagel function works great. (Try toasting hamburger buns on the bagel setting!) This is a higher wattage toaster so it works fast. Different kinds of bread require different settings and takes time to figure out like any new toaster. I have not paid any attention to the little count down timer. It’s a bell & whistle I don’t really need, but it does work if you need it. Toaster is not as heavy duty as I would like, but it should hold up fine under normal use. Only con is that it is not made in the USA. Very good price for what seems to be a good product. I would recommend this toaster.
