I don't know the size of the Z4. I can say that this item is of very high quality and works well with my iphone 12. It has a locking mechanism that once the phone is in place holds it nice and tight and I feel that even if I fell off the bike the phone would stay in the holder. I don't think you will be disappointed, I know I was not.

Q: How do you install the rotation ball onto the back of the holder? Sounds silly but it isn’t clear on how to do this

Push the two together, the ball has to be pressed in. Otherwise if it was loose, it would just fall out again.
