The media could not be loaded. This is the best mousse that I have tried on my wavy hair. I am super pleased with it - it has a really nice lemon meringue smell and foams up nice. What I've found works for me is to apply it to soaking wet hair. I will hang my head upside down with my hair soaking wet and take a tennis ball sized amount of the mousse and use praying hands to apply it all over my head. I then rake my fingers through my hair from roots to ends. I then scrunch all the excess water out and use a microfiber towel to plop my hair. After about 5 minutes, I take my hair out of the towel and reapply more mousse but this time only half the amount and I scrunch it in. I then diffuse until about 90% dry. This mousse has great hold, does not make your hair feel crunchy, and gives your hair a beautiful shine.

This product has a great smell and works wonderfully! My Curls are soft and defined not frizzy or hard and crinkly. I use all Cake products on my hair!

I’ve used previous mousses back when I was in high school about 10-12 years ago and I always hated how crunchy and hard and stiff they made my curly hair. Lately my hair is thinner than it’s ever been because hard water has been wreaking havoc on it before I understood what was going on. I have low porosity 2c-3a curls and my hair is fine but has volume. Since I discovered that my new home has hard water I’ve gotten a hard water, showerhead filter, Malibu, hard water, shampoo, and conditioner, and I’ve been using hair growth oil and head massages to regrow. Since I’m taking a hiatus from heat tools and curling ones, I really really need to learn how to embrace my natural curls while it heals from the hard water damage, I wanted a moose that would help bring back my curl pattern because it’s stronger than a leave in. Let me tell you this product is amazing if used correctly. I think about a quarter size and rub my palms and then scrunch on the tips of my curls, When it dries out completely, not crunchy at all!!! It has a delish lemony scent and I’m floored this is a moose. I have never had good luck with hair mousse, but I don’t think I’ll ever use a different type now! As you can see my curl pattern came back for the most part, but I’m working on getting her all the way up to the roots and thicker!

I purchased the Cake Beauty Whipped Curl Defining & Volumizing Mousse in September of 2024. I'm still working on the same bottle now in July of 2025. I was very excited to try this mousse as reviews online were glowing. I felt a little disappointed though. I have long wavy hair that easily gets weighed down. I need products that will reduce frizz and give hold so my curls and waves can shine through. This mousse did give light to medium hold, have a great sweet lemon scent (like lemon pie), and define my natural curls some. However my problem is everything I use this my hair gets so dry and tangled by the end of the day. If I try to diffuser with this in my hair the same happens. I've tried layering with a curl cream and ended up with stringy stretched out curls. I've tried light leave ins underneath, more water, less water, etc but always get the same result. By day two my hair is almost matted in the back and my ends are super dry. This hasn't happened with other mousse like herbal essence or garnier fructis (which you would expect since these have alcohol in them). I also can't put this mousse near my scalp for volume because it irritates my skin so much. It is very sticky, after I apply to my hair I have to wash my hands with soap and scrubbing to get the residue off. I imagine this would cause buildup on the scalp. Overall I regret buying this because it doesn't work for what I want for my hair. Looking at other people's photo reviews, some of the positive reviews the hair looks stringy and buildup-y to me so maybe it's just a preference thing. Originally, I bought this for heatless curls like socks curls or those foam rollers curls but even for that I didn't love it. Also random side note- the bottle is really tall so I had to store it sideways on my shelf and it started to leak a brown liquid that stained some of my items stored around it.

My hair is more so wavy than curly but I am very happy with the way my hair turned out. The product is thick but does not weigh down my hair. I have a lot more curl definition than usual which is really nice, and my hair is soft and shiny. The overall quality is great and the smell is amazing.
