The players have three frogs each and need to retrieve the witch's spell book in order to be turned back into princes. There are four spell books, one real and three fakes, hidden under witches' hats. Frogs try to find the real spell book and return with it to their lily pads - the first to do so is the winner. To make matters more difficult, books can be stolen from other frogs and there are snakes and cats. The snakes lie on the tracks and must be hopped over. Some bite - they have a magnet that is attracted to some (not all) of the frogs - others just lie still. Flowers are collected as an antidote to snake bites. Players can move a cat each turn instead of a frog. No frog would dare walk past a cat, so they are placed in the way of frogs to hold them up and allow or prevent the theft of a book.

WHICH FROG??
This was a great idea for a game with plenty of lovely plastic components that we all love, and quality made too. However; as much as we enjoyed playing this game, we feel it was unable to reach its full potential due to lack of space... The size of the playing board, we feel could and should have been at least twice the size to be able to move large and a lot of playing pieces comfortably. The problem being we found, that all the pieces (and there are lots!) are too tightly squeezed together within very small areas... As some of the playing pieces, such as the frogs and cats for example are pretty big, they not only fill the squares they move on, but get two or three of any of these in the squares adjacent to each other - add a snake, and it's chaos... Short of this problem, we found this game a good theme, enjoyable to play, and you'll find if four are playing, it is SO easy to lose track of which books are with which frogs which only leads to even more fun! The game looks complicated, but as is unusual in these types of games, the rules are surprisingly easy to follow!Knocking one star off for the board size.

Brilliant game remembered from childhood!
I had this game as a child in the 90s. It was such a great game! What you probably can't tell from the description, is that the most fun comes from this game when you're trying to work out who has the spell book with the prince inside (your goal is to steal it from another frog if you don't have it because that's how you win the game). However at the start you only know which spell book you have, and if you have a 'fake' you have to work out which of your opponents has the prince book, and steal it off them. As a child I found it really difficult to keep a poker face which my family found hilarious. But I got a bit better at it and managed to trick them eventually! This is not very good with 2 players as you know that if you don't have the spell book, your opponent does. It's best with 4 players.Overall great fun :-)
